Millerton Art
Nordic contemporary art BY Sarah Millerton
Swedish artist living in Copenhagen. More influenced toward a personal visual exploration of Scandinavian arts in general. Music, design, light and nature are all found in the paintings I make. My concerns are toward a tradition of making things in a necessary perspective, a highly Nordic expression through a tradition of hand making.
My motivation is based on elevated high notes of fine art - but more importantly the base notes of craft, applied arts and design purpose built utilitarianism.

Ikigai 生き甲斐 is a concept I’m exploring. It means something that gives a person a sense of purpose, a reason for being. My art gives me a sense of purpose and my mind paints all the time, when I sleep, when I walk, when I see an inspiring colour combination.
My challenge as an artist is moving from the intuitive to a different sense of awareness where I reflect and create in sync.
JAPANDI
I am currently exploring the differences and similarities in aesthetic creating abstract interpretations of the concepts Ikigai, Kintsugi and Wabi Sabi. Kintsugi is the art of mending broken ceramics with gold, creating a resilience and beauty in the non-perfect.
